Featured Artists

Here at CDFC we endeavour to support local artists and make art by the people, for the people.

Check out these awesome designs from our newest artists!

Finn

Finn is a young LGBTQ+ artist from Fort Langley, BC and recently graduated from the Langley Fine Arts School as a Visual Arts Major. Finn loves iced coffee and colour theory! He is always creating in some shape or form but when he’s not drawing he can be found hanging with his cats or wandering the streets of Vancouver in search of the nearest thrift store. In the fall he will be attending NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to pursue his love of the Fine Arts.

Mai

My name is Mai. I moved to Canada from the Middle East. I love art, pets and nature. I'm a humanist, and I believe there is something good in every person. We need more compassion and love in this world.

Design 1: I Forgive

In memory of Sarah Hejazi. A brave and inspiring human who left us too soon.

Sarah was a lesbian activist, writer, and socialist from Egypt. After waving a rainbow flag during a concert in 2017, she was arrested, imprisoned, and tortured for three months in Egypt. In 2018, she received refuge in Canada. She battled depression and PTSD. Sarah died by suicide on June 13, 2020, in Toronto, Canada.  The words in this design were part of her last letter.

Design 2: Freedom

Arabic phrase that says “ I breathe freedom”

Design 3: Calligraphy

Arabic calligraphy of a quote from Nawal El Saadawi - an Egyptian feminist writer and activist.

" ‏to everyone who left their homeland in search of freedom. To everyone who paid the price for their honesty and lost their freedom "
